The wait is over ✨ Shahzia Sikander: Collective Behavior’ is NOW OPEN!

Over three decades, New York-based artist Shahzia Sikander (b. 1969, Lahore, Pakistan) has forged an innovative art practice that approaches the tradition of South and Central Asian manuscript painting from a global feminist perspective.

Guided by the primary ideas and inquiries of Sikander’s practice, this multimedia presentation follows the evolution of her practice since her undergraduate thesis project “The Scroll” (1989-90), a five-foot-long manuscript painting that exceeds the size and format of this historic medium. Over time, the artist’s strategies of visual and conceptual accumulation have built a powerful “collective behavior.”
