These works are extraordinary: a way of image making that creates the paper substrate in the process of rendering the image. She takes different fibers (cotton, banana leaf, etc) and pigments and mixes them into slurries, then pours them into paper making sieves and manipulates them on the surface, sometimes using stencils to control the spread. There’s no surface or ground, and she only has about 24-48 hours to work before the slurry gets too dried out. And she just taught herself to do this in the last 8 months. Really so beautiful and technical and virtuosic.
