Supported by Razi Ahmed and the Lahore Literary Festival (LLF), this Panel Discussion precedes the Private View of Rasheed Araeen: Conscious Forms at the Royal West of England Academy (RWA) Museum in Bristol. Curated by University of Bristol art historians Dr Zehra Jumabhoy and Dr Elizabeth Robles, with support from Dr Kathryn Johnson, RWA’s Head of Exhibitions, it marks Araeen’s first exhibition in Bristol. Addressing ideas of nation, belonging and migration, ‘Conscious Forms’ (from the 25th of May to the 11th of August 2024) traces the intermingling of aesthetics and politics in Araeen’s pioneering oeuvre. This Panel explores its themes.
