“Plant Studies 1” is a branch from an olive tree that I bought in 2019 from the site of Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi in Italy, which now grows in my house in Lahore.
I made this work for an exhibition for the people of Gaza.
The Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi is one of the most important places of Christian pilgrimage in Italy. St. Francis of Assisi is well-know for his many miracles involving animals and birds and his compassion for healing critically ill and injured people.
