Javaid Mughal (b. 1987) lives and works in Lahore, Pakistan. He did his MA (Hons.) in Visual Arts from National College of Arts, Lahore in 2018 and earned his merit scholarship in the same year. He started his career as a cinema board painter at Royal Park, Lahore. Javaid learned traditional calligraphy as well as graphic design and displayed a keen interest in figurative and realistic painting, which led him to graduate from Punjab University College of Art & Design (PUCAD) in 2015. Javaid has been awarded many prizes and awards including ADA award in the category of Painting in 2021, Anna Molka Painting Award 2021 from PUCAD, 3rd prize of the Arjumand Painting Award by Gallery6, Islamabad in 2019, Adcom Leo Burnett Merit Prize from Arjumand Painting Award by Gallery6, Islamabad in 2017 and the 14th Annual Emerging Talent Art Prize from VM Art Gallery, Karachi in 2015. He has been featured as an Emerging Artist in Apero Catalogue, California in 2019 and selected for London Artrooms Awards at Le Dame Art Gallery, London in 2019. Javaid’s works have been a part of a number of group exhibitions in Pakistan, USA and UK.
