Next @sanat_initiative “Between Holding and Letting Go” by @zarnaabbaloch opens on Tuesday 7 October
Zarnaab Baloch (b. 2000, Karachi) graduated with a degree in Fine Arts from the Arts Council of Pakistan in 2023. Her work has been exhibited across Pakistan in various group shows and “Between Holding and Letting Go” is her first solo exhibition. Zarnaab lives and works in Karachi and teaches at the Arts Council of Pakistan.
Zarnaab’s work dwells in silence. The kind of silence that lingers beneath the surface of expression. Her practice explores the subtle weight of human emotion, often capturing moments of stillness, reflection, and a quiet melancholy that resists explanation. Working primarily in oil paint, she builds her surfaces with patience and sensitivity. Each portrait unfolds gradually, shaped by memory, intuition, and a desire to hold space rather than command it. While the figures may begin as self-representations, they evolve into emotional mirrors. Her paintings invite viewers into their own introspective terrain.
