"The figures are bound by shifting roles and relationships, mother and daughter, sisters, lovers, friends, confidants, embodying both past and present selves. The painting evokes the intimate thresholds where knowledge is exchanged: the secluded corners and liminal spaces in which secrets, cautions, and insights circulate. It gestures toward an intergenerational logic of care, of how one learns to flourish, to safeguard, and ultimately to protect the self.”
