@jhavericontemporary – Find Iftikhar Dadi & Elizabeth Dadi’s wonderful art project ‘Tasavvur (Imagination)’ featured in the book ‘Old Stacks, New Leaves: The Arts of the Book in South Asia’ (Sonal Khullar, University of Washington Press, 2023).
The Dadis’ project reimagines book covers with fictional titles derived from poetic phrases. Inspired by the visual and literary aesthetics of Urdu publishing, it draws upon book cover designs, the cultural history of modern Urdu books and journals, the artists’ collections of these materials since the late 1980s, as well as other archival resources.
