Darham / Marham, is an idea and a practice derived from the Urdu onomatopoeic and compositewords Darham Barham, inferring a sense of disorder and chaos. Thus, this intervention into thephrase with the rhyming Urdu word Marham (translating literally into an ointment, a dressing for awound) lends meanings, gestures and textures of care and repair, to this otherwise unsettling word formation.
Situating ourselves on shifting grounds, Darham / Marham, is our attempt to create a space to gather, to shake things up, but also a space to let things settle, rest, and find a home.
Darham Marham will host The Kurachee Reading Room , and also The Table – A Project Space. We willbe developing programming centered around publishing practices, sound and listening, andexperimental and research based practices.
We hope this can be a space to gather, to read, to listen, to talk, to watch and observe, and to thinkalong and next to each other. We would love for you to join us on this journey.
