Chawkandi Art Gallery is delighted to present new works by Waseem Ahmed.
Part of the group of trailblazing artists of the contemporary miniature movement, Ahmed reinterprets an ancient vocabulary. In this series, he uses figures from the past, foliage, and gold and silver leaf, to gesture to humanity’s avarice and failure to learn from history. Content to be driven by desires, individuals neglect the cautionary tales of ‘past glories which stand abandoned and a witness to the present-day atrocities.’ Ahmed’s richly detailed compositions retain a fundamental core of mystery: he invites audiences to decide if they are witnessing ‘scenes of hope emerging or an inevitable doom-in-progress.’ Join us on 14th May for Cognitive Bias.
