Imran Qureshi discusses his work for the Islamic Arts Biennale 2025, “Zubaydah Trail (Between Sacred Cities)”.
Between the pavilions dedicated to Makkah (AlMukarramah) and Madinah (AlMunawwarah), Imran Qureshi's “Zubaydah Trail” unfolds into a woven oasis—a contemplative space of rest and remembrance.
In his interview, the artist reflects on the legacy of traditional crafts, the symbolism of water and gardens, and the historic pilgrimage trail commissioned over a thousand years ago by Zubaydah, wife of Haroun al-Rashid.
