Carbon Credit
By Aisha Sarwari

With these mountains
You may possibly
Forecast the economy

You can see supply-demand graphs against a sky
Heading towards one other, colliding halfway
Like a glacial punch
Like sun-cracked lips

Horizontal
Volcanic angry earth made of hungry peasants
Vertical
Cold hearted ice caps made of rulers

With these mountains
You hear the avalanche of mathematical equilibriums
You better believe everything threads
Be it for a moment

With these mountains
You can foretell time-to-market
My gaping empty pockets
Your tiny vault

With these mountains
You will easily forget there are things in this world that do not care
Will, nonetheless, hover
Like the lapis-blue dragonfly
Like the apricot blossom

Eventually someone will buy more wheat than they need
Someone will sell their flesh for the thawing needs of their soul

With these mountains
Surely, there are ungoverned seasons
There are unions
There are partings
With these mountains
Everything settles into black
What comforts the tectonic plates, stays back
Eventually, all atoms retire

With these mountains
The palm of the earth has spoken to us
In fortune lines
In contour lines

With these mountains
You will see with your city-eyes
Petals are open mouthed-needy-vulgar
Far too unruly, improper

. Listen .

Let us wait?
With these mountains
I will be carbon someday
