A Quiet Wildness has opened at Daniel Und Die Kunst, presenting a new body of work by Pakistani artist Muzzumil Ruheel.
The work begins with something familiar: the things we wish we had said but never did. The perfect reply that arrives too late, the sharp comeback left unsaid, the truth that reaches the mouth but never leaves it.
As Ruheel writes, “There are always things I wish I had said.”
In this body of work, these unspoken thoughts take on a life of their own. Each sentence becomes a starting point, with an animal emerging from the feeling it carries. Some thoughts grow horns, others develop claws, while some remain unexpectedly gentle.
“I’m answerable to no one.” carries the confidence of a lion.
“Do not come in my way.” feels solid and immovable, like a bull.
“Stop staring.” finds its way into an owl.
“Speak softly.” belongs to a sparrow.
Ruheel’s conceptually driven practice turns this private archive of things left unsaid into a visual language of its own.
A Quiet Wildness ultimately asks: What becomes of the things we never say?
