Suleman Aqeel Khilji (b. 1985, Quetta, Pakistan) who previously studied at the National College of Arts, Lahore, sees painting as a space for contemplation, characterised by constant change and a transient quality. He keenly observes the interplay of translucency, transparency, and opacity in his work, viewing the impermanence in this process as a reflection of the ever-evolving nature of collective consciousness. He often incorporates found objects, such as old books, wooden surfaces, etc. These weathered materials are reimagined as temporal characters, layering narrative and image.

The Royal Academy Schools Show 2025 continues until this Sunday 29 June 2025. Open Tuesday–Sunday from 10am–6pm, with later opening on Friday til 9pm.
