الفنانين المشاركين في معرض “شذرات من الفلكلور”: حمرة عباس
تعتمد الأعمال التي تعرضها حمرة عباس على تقنية قديمة في تطعيم الحجر، وهي ممارسة فنية تعود جذورها إلى جنوب آسيا منذ القرن السابع عشر. وفي ممارستها الفنية المعاصرة، تعيد عباس تفسير هذه التقنية التقليدية لابتكار منحوتات جديدة تمحو الحدود بين الرسم والنحت. تبقى لغتها البصرية متجذرة في الفنون الزخرفية، لكنها تعيد تخيّلها من خلال مواضيع البيئة، والرغبة، والتفاني.
في معرض شذرات من الفلكلور، تواصل عباس هذا الاستكشاف، منجذبة بشكل خاص إلى التصوير البارز للحدائق كما يظهر في الشلالات والنوافير والزهور والأشجار والثمار، سواء من خلال الرسم أو التطعيم داخل العمارة. وقد بدأت في إدراج هذه العناصر البصرية وإعادة تفسيرها ضمن أعمالها، كلعبة بصرية وفكرية تستكشف مفهوم الجنّة كحديقة في التصوّر الإسلامي.

“Fragments of Folklore” participating artists: Hamra Abbas

Hamra Abbas’s exhibited works are based on an old stone inlay technique that has been practiced in South Asia since the 17th century. In her current practice, she reinterprets this traditional craft to create new sculptures that blur the boundaries between painting and sculpture. Her visual language remains rooted in the decorative arts but is reimagined through themes of ecology, desire, and devotion.
At Fragments of Folklore, Abbas continues this exploration, particularly drawn to the prominent depictions of gardens—waterfalls, fountains, flowers, trees, and fruits—either painted or inlaid within architecture. She incorporates and reinterprets these visual elements in her work as a playful and conceptual engagement with the notion of paradise as a garden in Islamic thought.
