This opaque watercolor series on paper pays homage to Melchior D'Hondcoeter's 17th-century ornithological masterworks, synthesizing the intricate nuances of Mughal portraiture with the refined elegance of Dutch Golden Age aesthetics. An impressive flock of avian specimens, borrowed from D'Hondcoeter's oeuvre and observational studies of nature, converges with portraits, inspired by the techniques of double exposure photography.
