Chawkandi Art Gallery is delighted to present Arslan Farooqi and Mirza Zeeshan Hussain’s Traces of Belonging.
Both artists were trained in the Indo-Persian miniature painting tradition at the National College of Arts Lahore. Mirza Zeeshan Hussain’s practice includes drawing, painting, and sculpture. In richly hued works he uses an ancient vocabulary as a point of departure. Through repetitive mark-making, he explores ideas of human vulnerabilities and collective trauma.
Muhammad Arslan Farooqi’s approach to miniature in his words, creates “a movement that does not have to be imagined.” Reflecting on faith, the grandness of pilgrimage, and communion, the artist celebrates seekers’ finding “not just a dwelling, but a symphony of belonging—an echo of unity that transcends the tangible.” Join us on 30th September 2024 for Traces of Belonging. The show runs till 10th October 2024.
