Salman Toor’s “Bar Boy” is included in “This Is New York: 100 Years of the City in Art and Pop Culture,” a group exhibition on view at the Museum of the City of New York (@MuseumOfCityNY) through July 21, 2024.
The exhibition explores the many ways that the city has inspired storytelling across art forms. It features both famous and lesser-known depictions of New York in film and television, visual and performing arts, music, poetry and literature, and even fashion. “Bar Boy” serves as a focal point in the “Destination: NYC” gallery, where it is displayed alongside works by artists like Faith Ringgold, Nan Goldin, Kadir Nelson, Weegee, and others. “Destination: NYC” showcases the city’s spaces for gathering and spectacle, its unique nightlife spots, and iconic parks and waterfronts. Toor’s paintings vividly capture the essence of New York City’s nightlife, exploring intimate and dynamic scenes of social life and celebrating the diversity and energy that define the city’s vibrant culture.
