Delighted to announce ‘یہ خوبصورت جگہ / यह ख़ूबसूरत जगह / this beautiful place’, my curatorial project for the Curatorial Intensive South Asia (CISA) 2023, guided by @lats47 and @shuddha . This place features works by @_sofiakarim_ (Liverpool / London), @bani_abidi (Karachi / Berlin), Bharath Murthy @actionist2711 (Bengaluru), Rajat Dey @gonddarr (Kolkata) and @joepaulcyriac (Trivandrum). Their works are held together by a disjointed conversation between a father and a son. From here, we observe unenclosed enclosures and absent presences embodied within one space. Isolating us are the grand edifices of the physical and the abyss of the virtual, yet often penetrated by everyday musings. We meet worlds of disillusionment—a dawn abruptly separated from the night, and one of hope—of the dawn that still awaits. In these transient flights, pieced together are places we often call home.
This project shares space with ‘A Matter of Time’ – a collective exhibition of nine other curated projects which are a part of CISA 2023 – a fellowship program by @khojstudios and @goetheinstitut_newdelhi bringing together young curators from South Asia.
The exhibitions open at 6:30pm, on the 12th of December 2023 at the Art Gallery (2nd Floor), Kamaladevi Complex, India International Centre @iic_delhi , New Delhi.
